December 20 2018 Holiday Meeting

Monthly Frocularity by Ed Olsivicky

Once a month, We-Go will host an off site Frocularity event through June 2019. What is Frocularity you ask?

.....well, it all goes back to the mid 1980's and Past President of the Rotary Club of Uniontown, John C. Link's year of service. John's theme for his Presidential year was Fun, Fellowship, and Frocularity.
To learn more or experience it for yourself, come visit We-Go some Thursday night at 6pm at our regular club meeting, or check back each week to see where the Frocularity event will be held, or give a ring to Ed O on 484-883-3025.
Looking forward to it!

Travis presented a District Grant for $3,000.00 to Carol Baker for a Read2Dream Project called “Invest in their Future.” It is written for two different groups, The Children from the Domestic Violence Center & The Crime Victim Center. In total this was a $7500.00 project. ($3000.00 from RI District, $3000.00 from WEGO Foundation, and $1500.00 from Carol Baker)

The goal of the program is to reeducate the children to help them deal with the challenging times at home. A lot of these kids are going through PTSD like symptoms. They just had their Read2Dream Winter Literacy Event this past Saturday where they had 367 children in attendance. Every child got a free book. Every book is stamped with “Read2Dream Foundation book donations made possible through our literary partner Westtown Goshen Rotary.”

Program: Speaker, Bruce Mowday

He discussed the Jailing the Johnston Gang. Pennsylvania's Johnston Gang, led by Bruce Johnston, Sr. and his brothers Norman and David, netted millions through a prolific burglary ring during the 1960s and '70s. But in 1978, fearing that younger members of the gang were going to rat them out to the authorities, the brothers killed four teenagers and nearly killed Bruce Sr.'s own son. This book draws on personal interviews with investigators, attorneys, and even former gang members to detail how the combined efforts of federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies brought the brothers to justice.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:17 pm.
